REFLECTION TASK A1

Hi everyone! I want to talk about myself a little. I am Esma and I was born in Karaman on 9 january 1995. We have been living in Cyprus, Lefkoşa since 2010 but actually i am from Konya.These cities are really different from each other but i love both of them. I have two brother  younger than me. One of my brothers started to his university this year. He lives in Lefkoşa with my family. Therefore, i am sometimes jealous of him. J Nonethless, I love ANKARA , I love being independent from my family, and of course I love METU, its social environment and teacher- student relationship. Being admitted in the department of Faculty of Language Education by METU is one of my goals. Therefore, I am very happy to be here and be part of the METU family. J I like learning new languages, so in addition to English and German,  I have been learning Spanish in Ankara University TÖMER. It is my favorite spanish song.

 

Also, I am interested in Classical Turkish music, and I am playing ney-flute which are considered the most typical instruments of Classical Turkish music together with the Turkish tanbur lute and Turkish kemençe fiddle. As everybody has a favorite book and movie, I have a favorite book and movie. The book which I really enjoyed while reading is Inkheart. Actually its a trilogy which is series of three fantasy novels written by German author Cornelia Funke, comprising 3 books : Inkheart, Inkspell and Inkdeath. I read these books when I was in High School. I strongly recommend this trilogy to fantasy book lovers.

 Lastly my favorite movie is “Life is Beautiful”. I think people who haven’t watched yet this movie should keep it in their mind.

1)  I have lived in Sivas so far and I love that city so much especially its climate, because Ankara's climate is so cold for me.

2)  I graduated from the Anatolian Teacher Training High School.

3  Now I am at the same department with one of my best friends whose name is Ayşe ,

but I wish I was at the same university with my other best friends.

4)  If you ask something to my friends about me, they will explain what a wonderful person I am.

ANGER MANAGEMENT (movie task)

    a) Dave Buznik has a bad experience in his childhood, and it leaves Dave with trauma about public affection. In addition to that, he repressing  his emotions, especially his anger. Also, he is a withdrawn and unsociable person. In the present day, Dave lives in New York, working as a secretary, and he can't get a promition because of his strict boss.His girlfriend, unlike Dave,is more easy-going person and he has a successful career. Dr. Rydell is an anger therapist who try to help Dave in his anger management theraphy.

     b) While flying to a business meeting, Dave sat next to a man, which we learned afterward that this man was Dr. Rydell, the  man annoyingly insisted to Dave to  watch movie with him.Dave asked stewardess for headset but  stewardess ignored him several times.When Dave asked stewardess for headset again,  he just touched her arm to say his request but the girl misunderstood him completely.After that, a series of annoyances broke out and Dave lost his temper.

  c)  During the event on the plane, Dave’s approach to the cabin crew's behaviour is normal. As a jury member, I think that the stewardess and cabin crew exaggerated this event.Therefore, Dave is not a quilty man, and there is no reason to sentence him an anger management theraphy. Nonethless, I think Dave did not explain himself correctly due to problems which we mentioned before. Therefore, he should consult a  psychologists, and he should try to overcome his problems.

ANIMAL CARE IN ZOOS

 The earliest known zoo was the Park of Intelligence in the province of Hunan which was started by a Chinese ruler about 1150 B.C.Due to the fact that zoo facilities are limited today, zookepers cannot keep every animal on display year-round. In the winter in colder climates, most birds must be brought indoors, but zookeepers cannot always keep each bird on view for the public. Many visitors are surprised to see that some animals remain outside all year such as penguins,polar bears and timber wolves which are happy outdoors in wintertime. Some animals are always indoors in northern areas like reptiles and small desert animals, therefore; they always have indoor displays. Zookeepers must provide indoor shelters for large animals such as elephants  whose shelters are really large. Today zoologists understand much more about animal behaviour and zoos are being designed that are similar to the animals' natural habitats. Viewers can closely observe animals at animal parks while  they  are roaming freely. Zoo kitchens keep a wide variety of foods which are used to prepare meals that meet each animal's nutritional needs. Zoos contribute to wildlife conservation and nurture species that are in danger of becoming extinct.

CHINESE NEW YEAR

The biggest and most popular of all Chinese festivals is The Chinese New Year, and it is an exciting and colorful holiday. It falls everywhere between January 21 and February 19. Chinese people all over the world celebrate this festival  by parading through the streets, and setting off fireworks.People pay visits to friends to wish them luck and prosperity with a greeting that means ''happy greetings, and may you gather wealth.'' On the final day of the year, preparations are made for a great New Year's Eve supper. All doors are sealed with paper strips, and no one may leave or enter until the next morning. . Businesses have closed for days after the new year begins. Children receive presents of money in red envelopes, therefore; no wonder they look forward to this festival.
