REFLECTION TASK 3

I think the person of the year should be Sezen Aksu! She is accepted as one of the most talented Turkish singer; however, it is not because of his ability of singing,  writing and composing songs, It is because of  her activities to help the other people.  As part of a project which is called “Education can overcome every handicap”, she allowed disabled children to take place in her video clip which is called “ Düş Bahçeleri” in order to attract disabled children’s problems. She wrote and composed the song for that children to help the project.by If you listen to the song, you can understand how deep and meaningful expressions it has. Moreover, she  gave a concert as part of a project and she  donated all the money which she earned. She does not limit herself  just this social project, she also, became the face of another project (Kardelenler) which is conducted for girls who can not go to the school. Again , as a part of the project, she gave concerts, and she donated the whole of the money. She wrote a song for “Kardelens” and she included them on her video clip. This project which continue with contribution of artists like Sezen Aksu was chosen as a Model Project by United Nations. Furthermore, she composed a song which is called “Ballad of Saturday” for the mothers who are in stay-down strike every Saturday for their loss. Al in all, I chose Sezen Aksu as a person of the year because of  her  urge to help the other people who do not have the same circumstances with us. Also, she showed us issuesthat we always ignore and made us to be aware of these people.

REFLECTION TASK 2B

Music is the universal language of mankind, and many people use this language widely in order to express their emotions and  attract some issues. I do not know how can I call them but there are  45  vocalists and singers who are using music to attract enviromental issues with the song of “Divane Aşık Gibi”.  Actually, this song  their title track. After that song they sang and released many pieces. Their slogan is “PLAYING FOR NATURE” and this project was launched by being inspired Playing for Changes. Aim of this project is to evoke an enviromental consciousness. There are 45 people whose hometown, interests, point of view are different from each other; however, they can accomplish to be together for the sake of one goal : To raise consciousness of protecting nature and natural environment. Therefore, they are singing mostly in natural environment like forest and side of a river. I think it is a good way to attract people’s attention to the environment. When I watched the songs, the background attract me and I noticed that we are responsible for protecting our nature. Nature is really beautiful just the the way it is and we should not slaughter it for the sake of our  excessive desires. Although many people has wached this songs, they are not aware of the massage which is wanted to be conveyed because they are just focusing the song and people, so  before the song s starts, It can be helpful to added some explanations about the project.

REFLECTION TASK 2A

            I want to talk about today protecting the environment.I chose this topic because I think it has  a highly societal significance. When we look around us we can see that our planet is facing many enviromental problems like climate changes, global warming, natural resource depletion,  loss of biodiversity and so on. Earth is our only house and we don't have such a technology to transport all of people to another planet. Therefore, we have to protect the environment, and  if we don't protect the environment, not only we are killing the environment, but we are killing ourselves as well.

There are many precautions to protect the environment. Firstly, governments should take urgent steps to limit the damaging effects of pollution. The governments should ban or limit the using of vehicles which emit excessive amount of smoke and stop factories which leave their wastes to the rivers, seas or public areas.

Also, the governments can limit the amount of pesticides and chemicals which are used by planters, in this way; air, water and soil contamination can be reduced. Secondly, by using the renewable energy resources, environment can be protected. Renewable energy resources are much cleaner than fossil fuels and the other energy technologies. For example, whereas burning coal while producing electricity emits excessive amount of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere ,which  is the cause of air pollution and greenhouse effect, there is no bad enviromental impact of using hydropower to produce electricity. Lastly, raising awareness can protect the environment. It is because, the more people know about what enviromental problems are, and how they will affect our life, the more they will be willing to do something protect the environment. To sum up, environment can be protected  by taking some precautions such as establishing some enviromental policies which include bans and limitations, using renewable energy resources and raising individual awareness.

Hi everyone! I will introduce to you a person that you will admire because when I met him , this man really fascinated me. When I was in secondary school, we were preparing a school magazine, and I had an appointment this man to interview for school magazine. Till that time, I had never heard him too. However, after interview I learnt a lot of thing about this man. Also, he taught  me how to think differently, how to be successful  and how much important doing something  fondly. Now , If you wonder about this man, I will share his name with you. This admirable person’s name is REHA BİLİR.

He is a really famous photographer not only in Turkey but whole of the world as well. He was given AFIAP designation which means artist of internatioal federation photografic art  in 2003 due to his successes. Unfortunately, he is not so much famous in Turkey.  Reha Bilir was born in Konya/ Beyşehir, and he graduated Istanbul University is pharmacy school but he has been known as a photographer. He won  Switzerland World Cup in 1999, honorable mention in the UK in 2004, and he located in the country know the team was selected for a total of 5 times national teams. Moreover, he won Turkey's most important photo prestige awards Şinasi Barutçu Cup in 2008 and Sami Day the Cup in 2009.Also, he has been awarded in 2011 by the Federation of Photographic Art as "Honorary Member - hon.fbps" and In 2012, an award by Selcuk University Photography Society "S.Ü. Reha Bilir not only take photos, but also in order to be a way for beginners demonstrators, he shared his photos with photographers in many cities and did interviews on the photo philosophy. I think he will be more successful and known by people in the future thansk to his passion  and interest to the photographic art.

Hi everyone! I want to talk about myself a little. I am Esma and I was born in Karaman on 9 january 1995. We have been living in Cyprus, Lefkoşa since 2010 but actually i am from Konya.These cities are really different from each other but i love both of them. I have two brother  younger than me. One of my brothers started to his university this year. He lives in Lefkoşa with my family. Therefore, i am sometimes jealous of him. J Nonethless, I love ANKARA , I love being independent from my family, and of course I love METU, its social environment and teacher- student relationship. Being admitted in the department of Faculty of Language Education by METU is one of my goals. Therefore, I am very happy to be here and be part of the METU family. J I like learning new languages, so in addition to English and German,  I have been learning Spanish in Ankara University TÖMER. It is my favorite spanish song.

 

Also, I am interested in Classical Turkish music, and I am playing ney-flute which are considered the most typical instruments of Classical Turkish music together with the Turkish tanbur lute and Turkish kemençe fiddle. As everybody has a favorite book and movie, I have a favorite book and movie. The book which I really enjoyed while reading is Inkheart. Actually its a trilogy which is series of three fantasy novels written by German author Cornelia Funke, comprising 3 books : Inkheart, Inkspell and Inkdeath. I read these books when I was in High School. I strongly recommend this trilogy to fantasy book lovers.

 Lastly my favorite movie is “Life is Beautiful”. I think people who haven’t watched yet this movie should keep it in their mind.
